The idea of an Academy stems from the need to have a quality pole in the region that can develop the issues related to the training of those who approach the choral world in all its aspects: singing, conducting, composing, management, school training.
In the past, AERCO has launched training courses both locally and centrally, focusing above all on choral literacy, in the individual provinces, on some specialization masters and on some courses for the training of school staff who will then have to start choirs in schools. In addition, there are some courses, in collaboration with the associated choirs, aimed at both young people and places of hardship. Finally, the presence of a strong interest in Gregorian chant, thanks to the collaboration with specialized operators in the sector, should also be mentioned; this led to the attendance of dozens of students in face-to-face and online courses organized by AERCO. Finally, it is worth mentioning the birth, thanks to this matured experience, of the Schola Gregoriana Ecce. There is so much to include, as part of the Choral Training Academy, a Permanent School of Gregorian Chant.
Last but not least, an agreement with the Emilia-Romagna Region and the School Superintendence would finally be desirable to start an organic project of choral singing in primary schools, also including the organic training of their directors.
Therefore, there is a need to coordinate all these activities so that human and economic resources can be allocated in the best possible way, possibly interacting with the state bodies of music training (Conservatories). In this regard, we note the Convention proposal that was sent to the ‘Frescobaldi’ State Conservatory of Music in Ferrara with regard to Gregorian Chant.
